In 2005, Coach Mike Broughton initiated the idea to create a top-level golf tournament to help fund the extra funds needed to fulfill the commitment to the young men playing basketball at Southern Nazarene University. This is a demanding sport at a time of the year that has critical academic significance. The tournament provides tutors, extra study aid, extraordinary transportation needs and on campus lodging between semesters for needy players. It also provides needed funding to bring games to the campus, eliminating the need for some travel. Most of all, it supports the commitment of the program to see every player graduate. The tournament has been very successful.
